Youth who spend more than 2 hours on the streets, without money, resources, supervision & specific activities are more likely to have increase health issues including
Exacerbation of asthma , allergies as your exposed to increase fumes, smoke
Eat unhealthy, skip meals and excess intake of junk foods from local stores & bodegas
Involved in use of marijuana, alcohol and smoking
Increase risk of contracting Sexually Transmitted Disease including HIV/AIDS
Early onset of disease that result excess stress including High Blood pressure
Becoming a pregnant teen with less appropriate prenatal care
Have issues with depression or anxiety or not have treatment of it
Be Victims of violence or Be involved in fighting
Involved in selling drugs and be Incarcerated
Victim of police brutality
Be involved in gangs
Dropout or fail out of school
To be sexually assaulted
not regularly treat conditions they may already have such as sickle cell or asthma
We want our youth off the street and into
The Arts, Sports, Mentoring, Afterschool, Educational programs and job training
